Meet our brass teacher Mrs Rayton

music teacher

Hello, my name is Julie Rayton and I am currently working as an insturmental brass teacher for the Lancashire Music Service.

After qualifying as a teacher in 1995 I went on to teach at many Primary schools.   I have played in both Blackpool Brass band and Thornton Clevelys brass Band.  In addition to teaching for the music service I also teach pupils privately.  I love my job!

Meet our woodwind teacher Mr Robinson

Hello my name is Matt Robinson and I teach woodwind. When I am not teaching in schools, I am a professional musician playing nearly every night somewhere in the country. I play the clarinet, bass clarinet (which is huge !), saxophones and the flute, not at the same time!! I also do recording sessions in Manchester for pop bands with artists like Jamie Cullen, Jools Holland and the Gorillas.

I am looking forward to teaching the children of Bolton-le-sands with their woodwind instruments.

Meet our guitar and strings teacher Mr Smith

Hello my name is Mr Smith and I have been with the Lancashire music service as a self employed music tutor, since January 2013. Prior to this role, I have been a class music teacher in secondary schools based in Lancaster and Carlisle, however, it was a position as an arts programmer and project leader for Lancaster City Council that drew me to the are in 2003. I am know tutoring 28 pupils on the guitar at Bolton -le-Sands and for mixed instruments with around 80 other pupils at 40 Lancashire schools.

I have been involved with music from the age of two.  When I was able to pick out melodies from programs that my family watched on tv and then play then on the piano.  Since then, I have performed, composed and travelled, playing instruments from violin, piano, baritone and percussion.

I can help pupils at Bolton-le-Sands find pathways into music in a range of ways, whether it is performance, arts management or general music ideas.
